HYACINTH MACAW

Habitat: lightly forested areas with seasonally flooded grasslands

As the largest parrot in the world, these birds measure about 40 inches and weigh about 2 ѕ pounds. Their predominant color is a deep cobolt blue but they have a golden eye ring and a golden stripe on their lower mandible. Largest of the boobies. Adult birds are white with dark brown or black flight and tail feathers. Bill color is yellow and feet are yellowish gray. Facial skin is gray-black. Sexes are similar in appearance. Juveniles are generally grayish brown with white underparts. Adult plumage is attained by the third year. The Chow Chow

Definitely one of the most impressive of all breeds, the Chow Chow is an awesome creature with his lion-like appearance and regal manner. Looking a little like a cross between a lion and a bear, the true origin of the Chow is unknown and lost deep within Chinese antiquity. The Chow as it is known today is easily recognizable in pottery and sculptures of the Chinese Han Dynasty (206 BC to 22 AD); other artifacts indicate that he was even a much older breed and may have come originally from the Arctic Circle, migrating to Mongolia, Siberia and China. Giant Anteater

The largest of four anteater species, the giant anteater may be five to seven feet long, from nose to tail, and weigh 40 to 86 pounds. It has a narrow head, long nose, small eyes, and round ears. Its coarse hair may be gray or brown, with a white-banded black stripe running along the body to mid-torso, and a long, bushy tail, which can be two to three feet long. Its front feet have large claws, which are curled under when it walks. It has poor vision but a keen sense of smell.

I. DESCRIPTION: HRL: 10-14 inches (26-36 cm). TL: 14-17 inches (35-42.5 cm). Weight: 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 pounds (.75-1.1 kg). Males are larger than females. Pelage short, thick, soft, and brightly colored. Skin on lips and around nostrils is black and almost devoid of hair. Most common coloration is white around eyes, ears, throat, and on sides of neck. Top of head is black to grayish, back forearms, hands, and feet are reddish or yellow with shoulders and hind feet suffused with gray. (more…)

Color(s): white with red, red or brindle with white; white must appear on chest, feet, tail tip, noseband, and collar (or spot on nape); may have dark mask
Coat: The Saint Bernard breed has two different coat varieties: the smooth or shorthaired, and the rough or longhaired. Both varieties of coat are extremely dense in texture and are water resistant.
